AniUniverse is built for anime fans. These rules exist to keep the community welcoming, safe, and worth coming back to.
AniUniverse is for fans aged 16 and over. We pick the strictest threshold across the EU so the same rules apply everywhere we operate. By creating an account you confirm that you are at least 16. Accounts found to belong to under-16 users will be removed; if you're a parent or guardian and notice an underage account, contact us and we will close it.
Treat every fan with respect — regardless of their taste, experience level, or opinions. Disagreements are welcome. Personal attacks are not. No slurs, hate speech, harassment, or discrimination of any kind.
AniUniverse is a safe space for all ages. Do not post sexually explicit content, gore, or graphic violence. This includes images, text, links, and profile content. Fan art must be SFW.
Always use spoiler tags when discussing episodes or chapters that haven't aired/released yet. In watch rooms marked "spoiler-safe", no spoilers are allowed at all. Manga readers: respect the anime-only viewers.
Don't flood the feed, chat, or comments with repetitive content. Don't use the platform solely to promote external content, products, or services. Share things the community genuinely cares about.
Do not share, link to, or promote pirated anime, manga, or other copyrighted content. Use legal streaming services. Watch rooms are a social sync layer — we do not host, stream, or embed any copyrighted content.
You keep the copyright on anything you post — your text, art, photos, avatars, and uploads remain your property. By posting, you grant AniUniverse a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, display, distribute, and back up that content for the purpose of running the platform. This license ends when you delete the content (with reasonable lag for backups and caches), except where the content is part of a public discussion that other users have replied to — in that case the discussion may remain with your handle anonymized.
When you upload an image, post a clip, or share any content, you warrant that you either own the copyright or have permission from the rights-holder to share it. You are solely responsible for the content you post. Don't upload anime episodes, manga scans, full OSTs, or anything else that belongs to a studio, publisher, or other creator without their permission. Fan art and screenshots used for commentary or discussion are generally welcome — but if a rights-holder asks us to remove your content, we will.
Copyright infringement notices should be sent to our DMCA-designated agent at dmca@aniuniverse.com. AniUniverse is registered with the U.S. Copyright Office DMCA Designated Agent Directory. For the formal takedown form, see /legal/copyright. We aim to review every notice within 5 business days.
Each valid copyright takedown against your account counts as one strike. Three strikes within a rolling 12-month window result in permanent suspension of your account, in line with 17 U.S.C. § 512(i) and EU Directive 2019/790 Art. 17. Strikes are visible to you in your account settings, and you can challenge a strike via counter-notice (below). We may suspend earlier — or skip the strike ladder entirely — for severe or coordinated infringement (e.g. full-episode rips, manga-chapter dumps, repeated re-uploads after removal).
If you believe content of yours was removed in error, you can file a counter-notice by replying to the takedown email we send you, or by contacting dmca@aniuniverse.com. A valid counter-notice must include your contact details, a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was a mistake or misidentification, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the relevant court. Knowingly false counter-notices can lead to liability under DMCA § 512(f).
Do not share personal information about other users. No doxxing, no sharing private messages publicly, no harassment campaigns. What happens in DMs stays in DMs.
Moderators keep the community safe. If a mod asks you to stop something, stop. If you believe a decision was unfair, reach out calmly — don't escalate in public. Repeated violations lead to temporary or permanent bans.
Violations may result in content removal, temporary mutes, or permanent bans. Severity depends on the offense. We reserve the right to remove any content or user that harms the community, without prior notice in extreme cases.
Version 2026-05-01. These rules may be updated as the community grows.
